Week/Module 1

Main differences between adult and kids programs and facilitation principles. How to Groove with young children: song selection, playlist formation, facilitation tips & tricks, how to use Groove truths, how to guide stillness, and special consideration for grooving with this age group.

Week Module 2

Grooving with ages 8-12 years old (ROCKSTARS); exploring more complicated rhythms and a variety of styles, how to maximize creative exploration and interesting group interaction, how to communicate deeper Groove philosophy and messaging, and introducing stretch and stillness.

Week/Module 3

Grooving with tweens & teens; how to inspire youth to move past the fear of “looking stupid”, how to talk about the “purple elephant in the room.” How to break patterns and the habit of following others; it’s OK to not be “cool.” Walking the talk; embracing your inner child and letting yourself be ridiculous. How breathing techniques and “mindfulness” practices regulate emotions, reduce stress, and transform the lives of youth around the world.

Week/Module 4

The family Groove Experience: how this differs from a regular adult class and full on kids experience. How to create a magical intergenerational dance class for the whole family. What songs to select and how to inspire community bonding. How to plan, promote, and cost it out. How to navigate the online resources and plan for your practicum submission.
